(September 28, 2018)
Our kids and youth are preparing for some exciting events in October. Our elementary kids will get to share what they have learned about Nehemiah’s story through music with our 10:30 service, our 6th-12th grade students will be jumping in with the pumpkin patch on a few occasions, and our Pre-K children will continue to learn about the immense love of God through hands-on activities! Take a peek at the details for each age level!
Birth through Pre-Kindergarten
Our youngest disciples will be Camping Out on the fact that God is in total control. Our memory verse for the month of October will be from Joshua 1:9. In this section of the Bible, Joshua is receiving the message – multiple times, in fact – to be strong and courageous because God is with you wherever you go. That is the truth that we want these boys and girls to walk away with each week in October!
Kindergarten through 5th grade
We would like to invite all kids in our elementary groups to join us on October 7th at the 10:30 Sanctuary Service to share our theme song from September with the congregation! These kids are learning and experiencing a lot and we want to spread that beyond our rooms!
For the month of October students in this age group will focus on contentment. What’s wrong with wanting just a little bit more than we have now? We will look at some stories from the Bible that help us see the dangers of discontent. If you have children or grandchildren in their elementary school years we invite them to explore our October theme with us: More or Less? The Choice is Yours!
6th grade through 12th grade
Our youth group at WHUMC started our weekly Sunday night meetings on September 9th, and we have jumped in with both feet trying to answer questions that are at the core of the Christian faith. In a series called Vital these students are wrestling with what it truly means to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. In October we will continue exploring what is vital if you are going to authentically take up the label of “Christian.”
We hope you join us at WHUMC for any of the Pumpkin Patch throughout October, but the youth would like to extend a special invitation to join us there on Saturday, October 20th as we serve up the BBQ, sell pumpkins, and engage with the community! (August 31, 2018)
August was a great month for our kids and youth ministries!
We have some big celebrations and news for you!
Our time in the Pre-K room was full of crafts, play, and learning that God’s way is perfect through the stories of Jonah, Namaan, Josiah, and Gideon.
In our elementary rooms, WISDOM was the word of the month. Students discovered that they are capable of making wise choices all the time! We hope you come see what we are up to this month in our classrooms, and make sure to stop by our new check-in area by the church offices before sending kiddos to their rooms!
August 26th was a big day for us, in particular! Many kids and youth volunteers had a luncheon and prepared for the upcoming school year. We are really excited about some of the things that will be starting new or continuing this year.
Later that evening our 6th-12th-grade students showed up big time at our Summer Shake-up Party at the CLC. 27 students and 6 adults came to play and reconnect, and to look forward to what the next few months have in store for them!
We will be launching Sunday School for the nursery through PreK at the 10:30 service starting on September 9th!
24 months to 5 years – God keeps His promises! Moses, Abraham and Sarah, and Noah will be our main characters for the month.
Kindergarten to 5th grade – Dirty Jobs: Somebody’s gotta do it! We will look at the initiative Nehemiah took to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
6th to 12th grade – We will begin our weekly meetings at the CLC starting Sunday, September 9th, from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM!
