Education

Webster Hills is committed to Christian education for all age groups. Our Sunday School Classes seek to learn more about their faith, share concerns in their lives, and strive to become true disciples of Jesus Christ. All are welcome to visit our Sunday School Classes.

Children's Education:

Sunday School is offered from 9:45 to 10:45 A.M. to children three years of age and older.

Nurseries are available for children younger than three years. One nursery is located on the lower level of the Education Wing, Room 105 and the other in The Christian Life Center, Room 232. Two paid child care workers are provided for each Nursery.

Teaching is done by teams of volunteers who are Safe Sanctuary trained. In support of the ministry shared by these volunteers, the Education Work Area has initiated a set of Guidelines for Appropriate Behavior that has been approved by our Church Council and is available from any teacher.

Preschool

Classes are on the lower level of the Education Wing. Currently, we have a combined class for 3 to 5 year-olds in Room E-106. The children have a 45-minute class followed by a 15-minute music time.
Any 2 year olds in the Nursery are invited to join in the music time.

Kindergarten – Grade 5

Classes are on the upper level of the Education Wing. Children gather for a 15-minute music time and an opening session in Room E-302 before dividing into age-levels for Rotation Sunday School. The ages pair up as Kindergarten/Grade 1, Grades 2 & 3, and Grades 4 & 5. They rotate into a variety of classes (i.e. storytelling, science, art, games, and/or cooking) based on a monthly theme.

Additional Events

Each year, the children are invited to participate in an annual Easter Egg Hunt. This activity brings the children and their parents together for a morning of fun and fellowship.

Vacation Bible School

VBS is offered during a week in the summer. Children ages 3 – Grade 5 come for extended lessons, crafts, music, recreation and snacks based on a common theme. Our church pairs up with Webster Groves Christian Church and offers this program to the community.

Safe Sanctuaries

Webster Hills UMC has a commitment to create a Safe Sanctuary that reduces the potential risk of injury or abuse to infants, children, youth and adult volunteers who participate in our church activities. Webster Hills UMC will:

  • Adopt reasonable safety measures for the selection and recruitment of adult volunteers with children and youth
  • Provide education for adult volunteers with children and youth regarding the church’s policy and procedures as well as the reporting requirements of the State of Missouri
  • See that our classrooms are staffed with trained adult volunteers

A copy of the complete Safe Sanctuaries Policy and Procedures is available in the church office.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”       Matthew 19:14

Youth Education:

Webster Hills UMC has a vibrant youth ministry. We have something for every one from 6th grade through 12th grade.

Sunday School is offered from 9:45 to 10:45 A.M. Junior High Students meet in CLC 130 and Senior High Students meet in CLC 129. Both rooms are on the lower level of the Christian Life Center..

W.H.Y.

This is a time for everyone to get together on Sunday nights (at 5:30 P.M.) for games, great food and discussion of the issues facing the youth of today, how we deal with those issues and how to live out our faith in these challenging times.

On Wednesday nights we ignite the Crossfire, which is led by our youth praise band, Spoken4. It is a worship time held in the Christian Life Center at 6:00 P.M.

Mission Trips

Every summer we pack our bags and head out to serve God and our neighbors. We have served in mission in the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma, the inner city of New York City, and the Methodist Conference in Costa Rica.

At least once a month we like to do some Random Stuff, and hang out and have fun. A few of the things we’ve done are movie nights, going to see plays, having a Superbowl Party and we even spent the night locked in the CLC and stayed up all night.

Along with all of these great and exciting events, we participate in other events such as service projects in the St. Louis area and worship here at Webster Hills. Our youth are very active in the church community. It is great to see God working through so many young people. We’d love to see Him work to you too, so please come join us!
